About the Founder

wmnsWORK was founded in 2022 by Iris Serbanescu, who has spent her decade-long career in the tourism industry consulting with and working alongside entrepreneurial ventures in tourism’s adventure, luxury and tech sectors. Prior to this launch, Iris led partnerships at TourRadar, an online marketplace for multi-day tour operators, and was the manager of trade development at travel consultancy Bannikin before that.

“I know what it’s like to feel like to be silenced or held back in subtle ways in places where masculine energy dominates, and I wanted to create a space that we can lean into bringing our whole selves to the table – with the container of trust and safety everyone is encouraged to show up fully – not just about business, but about life as well.”

Kris Chau, Program Manager

Kris Chau is the Program Manager at wmnsWORK, where she curates the accelerator experience and leads participants through each stage of the journey. As both a small business owner and coach, she understands firsthand the challenges and opportunities women face in building sustainable ventures. Kris combines operational expertise with a passion for mentorship to design programming that is practical, inspiring, and rooted in community. By fostering meaningful connections, encouraging growth, and leading with empathy, she ensures each cohort leaves with not only the tools for success but also the confidence and support to shape their entrepreneurial path.

Claire Burt, Program Coordinator

Claire is a Toronto-based freelance integrator and project specialist and has been supporting women-led organizations, vibrant travel communities, and innovative projects that are shaping the future of the industry for seven years. Her clients include influential women in travel, award-winning organizations, coaching networks, and ultra-high-net-worth trip planning companies. Claire is passionate about bringing ideas to life that connect women, community, and transformation through travel.
